HALIFAX, Nova Scotia — The Dalhousie Tigers secured a decisive 5-2 victory over the Acadia Axemen at Wickwire Field, bolstered by a strong first half with three goals.
The opening period saw Dalhousie make an immediate impact as Mohammed Tolba scored the first goal just 58 seconds after kickoff, assisted by Eliia Abu Al-Shamlat. Despite Acadia equalizing in the 18th minute, Dalhousie responded strongly with a goal from Mohammed Wahdan at the 25:19 mark, assisted by Tolba. Jack Ellis extended the lead near the end of the half heading home a corner by Woody Bain, providing Dalhousie a 3-1 advantage heading into the break.
The second period began with Acadia narrowing the deficit as Aaron John netted a goal in the 51st minute. Dalhousie quickly responded, with Woody Bain restoring the two-goal cushion in the 63rd minute. The Tigers sealed their commanding performance with Ben Thompson scoring in the 89th minute, assisted by Farrell Johnson, leading to a final score of 5-2.
Ellis secured the game-winning goal for Dalhousie, converting his single shot on target. Bain contributed both a goal and an assist, making all three of his shots count as shots on goal. Tolba added to the tally with a goal and an assist, effectively placing both of his shots on target. Wahdan recorded a goal after taking four shots, all of which were on goal, highlighting his accuracy.
The Axemen return hom eon Sunday to battle the Mounties. The Tigers have the rest of the weekend off, before heading to Sackville, New Brunswick to face the Mounties.
