Tigers close out regular season with tie

MONCTON, N.B. — Dalhousie University and the University of Moncton played to a scoreless draw on Saturday at Stade CBM. Dalhousie outshot the Aigles Bleues 17-0, with eight shots on target, but could not find the back of the net. Moncton's goalkeeper, Joelle Brand, recorded eight saves to maintain the shutout.
The match opened with Dalhousie applying offensive pressure from the start. Paris Axam led the charge with an early shot wide left and followed up with another attempt saved by Brand. Despite consistent pressure, including a notable header from Megan Chiasson and a crossbar hit by Arianna Rushenas, Dalhousie was unable to break through Moncton's defense.
The first half concluded with multiple corner opportunities for Dalhousie, highlighted by Ella Halliday's shot just before the whistle, which was saved by Brand. The half ended with both teams locked in a scoreless draw, as Dalhousie's efforts kept the momentum in their favor but did not yield a lead.
The second half commenced with Dalhousie pushing the tempo, as Jordan Camp took an early shot in the 47th minute, which was saved by Brand. Dalhousie continued to apply pressure, with Jordan Mansfield and Selena Lancaster each trying to break the deadlock with attempts on goal, though neither found the net.
Rushenas came closest to scoring when her shot hit the post in the 71st minute, maintaining the intensity of Dalhousie's attack. Despite multiple efforts, including a late attempt by Niamh Martin Manuel, Brand managed to keep Moncton level. The half concluded with the score still tied at 0-0, as both teams ended the second half without finding a breakthrough.
Rushenas led the team with four shots, two of which were on target. Axam contributed three shots, with two on goal. Julia Simons recorded a shutout, playing the full 90 minutes without conceding a goal. Camp added three shots, one of which was on target.
The Tigers, having locked up the top seed and first round bye, now turn their attention to the AUS Championship semifinals on Friday in Cape Breton. Kick off is set for 1:00 PM.
