Tigers score five for second game in a row
Ben Hashimoto scored twice in the Tigers 5-1 win over Mount Allison.
SACKVILLE, N.B. — The Dalhousie Tigers secured a commanding 5-1 victory over the Mount Allison Mounties on Friday evening, with Dalhousie netting three first-half goals.
The first half began with an explosive start for the visitors as Dalhousie surged ahead with two quick goals within the opening 15 seconds, courtesy of Ben Hashimoto and Mohammed Wahdan. Hashimoto, who was named the player of the game, further extended the lead in the 21st minute with his second goal, giving the visitors a commanding 3-0 advantage. Despite a blocked shot from Mount Allison's Joshua Jennex and a save by their goalkeeper Rhys Chambers on a shot from Isaac Geyer, Dalhousie maintained control through an effective offensive display.
Dalhousie began the second half strongly, extending their lead to 4-0 in the 47th minute with a goal from Mohammed Tolba, assisted by Wahdan. Just over a quarter-hour later, Mykeo Parker-Christmas found the back of the net to increase the advantage to 5-0. Despite a late response from Mount Allison, who scored in the 66th minute, Dalhousie maintained control and secured a 5-1 victory, highlighted by solid defensive efforts and effective offensive coordination.
Hashimoto scored two goals from three shots on goal, demonstrating precise finishing in the attack. Wahdan contributed significantly with a goal and an assist, also recording the game-winning goal. Tolba added another goal, converting his sole shot on target. Parker-Christmas rounded out the scoring with one goal from one shot, maintaining efficiency alongside an assist.
The Mounties return to action Sunday when they travel to Fredericton. The Tigers return home on Sunday when they host the SMU Huskies in the battle of Halifax.
