Bio
Holder of multiple Dalhousie women's hockey records, ranking among the best in the AUS and a leader in the program's alum group, Jocelyn LeBlanc had an impactful career as a member of the women's hockey team during her five seasons at Dalhousie.
A Moncton native, LeBlanc came to Dalhousie in the fall of 2007 after graduating from Ridley College in St. Catherines, Ontario, to begin her studies in kinesiology.
Foreshadowing her historic career, in her first season with the Tigers, Jocelyn was named an AUS second-team all-star, AUS rookie of the year, and a member of the U SPORTS all-rookie team. Building on her first-year achievements, in the 2008-09 season, often described as a natural goal scorer, Jocelyn set the record for second most goals in a season with 21. She was also named AUS second-team all-star.
The following year, in the same game against Mount Allison University on January 31, 2010. Jocelyn set a Dalhousie record for most points per game with seven and most goals in a game with five, also tying that record for first in the AUS. That same year, she was named an AUS first-team all-star and Team MVP.
In her fourth year, the 2010-11 season, Jocelyn was named AUS second-team all-star and was selected to represent Canada at the FISU games in 2011 in Turkey. Jocelyn became the first Dalhousie hockey player named to the Canadian World University Games team. She was part of Team Canada's dominant performance throughout the tournament as they went undefeated in their seven games, outscoring their opponents 42-1. Jocelyn had two goals and three assists throughout the tournament as Team Canada went on to defend their gold medal with a 4-1 win against Finland. A further testament to her skill, Jocelyn was invited to try out for the under-22 Canadian National Team that summer.
Her senior season was one for the record books where she set the Dalhousie record for most career points with 156, tying for eighth in the AUS, and the Dalhousie record for most goals in a career with 90, tying for third in the AUS. She was also named AUS second-team all-star and Team MVP.
Jocelyn’s impact on the Dalhousie University’s women’s hockey program is both historic and enduring, with her records still standing today. Proving she’s a dominant force both on and off the ice, Jocelyn obtained her masters in physiotherapy in 2014.
“Some of my favorite memories from playing at Dal revolve around the team and girls that played with me during my time with the Tigers,” says LeBlanc. “Our team culture during my five years at Dal was special. We were more than a team, we were family. Some of the friendships made during those years at Dal are still some of my best friends today. After our time as Tigers, we have celebrated weddings together, taken trips together and now a lot of us have kids of our own.”
Jocelyn continues to make significant contributions to women’s hockey through her dedication to coaching. As part of an all-female coaching staff for the U18 Team New Brunswick, she played a crucial role in their journey to the 2023 Canada Winter Games. Her coaching roles for Hockey New Brunswick's high-performance female program and her participation in Hockey Canada's National Women's U18 camp have further solidified her commitment to the sport.
