Wardle scores in loss to Aigles Bleues

MONCTON, N.B. — Dalhousie fell to the University of Moncton 3-1 on the road, despite goaltender Matt Davis making 28 saves.
The first period commenced with a tightly contested faceoff between Emma Penner and Maritza Labrie, won by the Aigles Bleues. Moncton took an early lead at 6:46 when Elodie St-Jacques scored, assisted by Arianne Roy and Erica Plourde. Throughout the period, Madison King was active in goal, making several saves to keep Dalhousie within reach. Both teams had opportunities on the power play following penalties, but neither capitalized. Moncton maintained a 1-0 advantage as the period concluded.
In the second period, Moncton capitalized on power play opportunities and tight defense to maintain the momentum. Despite Dalhousie's attempts on goal, including shots by Hannah Robertson and Casey Beisel, Moncton's goalie, Annick Boudreau, consistently denied scoring chances. The Aigles Bleues applied pressure during Dalhousie's penalties but was unable to convert during the power plays. With just 44 seconds left in the period, Amelie Vachon, assisted by Catriona Cormier, scored to extend Moncton's lead to 2-0. The period concluded with a penalty on Abby Larkin, giving Moncton another power play opportunity to start the next period.
Moncton secured their lead with a goal by Laura Tremblay at 7:49, assisted by Maritza Labrie and Elizabeth Galipeau, pushing the score to 3-0. Dalhousie attempted a comeback with numerous shots but was thwarted by Moncton's defense and goaltender Annick Boudreau. Despite two power play opportunities in the latter part of the period, Dalhousie struggled to convert until the final moments. Madison Wardle scored with just four seconds remaining, assisted by Avery Holmes and Leah MacSween, to put Dalhousie on the board, concluding the period with a 3-1 score in favor of Moncton.
Madison Wardle converted one of her two shots on goal, providing a critical score for the team. Leah MacSween contributed an assist while also taking four shots and winning nine faceoffs. Madison King made a strong defensive showing with 28 saves, despite allowing three goals. Avery Holmes added an assist and recorded two shots, contributing to the team's overall offensive efforts.
The Tigers are on the road in Antigonish next weekend to face the X-Women on Friday night.
