Tigers open regular season with win
Emma Robertson scored twice in the Tigers 6-2 win over the Mounties.
HALIFAX, Nova Scotia — The Dalhousie Tigers opened their AUS regular season with a commanding 6-2 victory over Mount Allison Friday night at the Forum.
The first period opened with a series of faceoffs dominated by Mount Allison, but Dalhousie found the back of the net first. Emma Robertson, who was named the player of the game, broke the deadlock at 17:19, scoring her first goal of the season with a helper from Leah MacSween. The Tigers continued to apply pressure, and Addison Kramer extended the lead with a goal at 19:39, assisted by Madison Wardle. The period ended with Dalhousie holding a 2-0 advantage, though the Mounties managed to secure a power play opportunity as the frame concluded.
In the second frame, Dalhousie's Avery Holmes scored twice, extending the home team's lead over the Mounties. Holmes netted her first goal at 1:25, with assists from Elaina Pilkington and Wardle. Her second goal came at 18:34, with Pilkington and Wardle again providing helpers. Dalhousie's offense was active, generating multiple scoring opportunities, while Mount Allison's netminder Skye McDonald made several saves to keep the visitors within reach. Despite their efforts, the Mounties were unable to find the back of the net, as Dalhousie held a 4-0 advantage by the period's end.
Dalhousie extended their lead early in the third frame with Abby Larkin scoring at 2:15, assisted by MacSween and Kramer. Regan Duffy capitalized on a power play at 4:28, widening the gap. Mount Allison responded when Samantha Taylor scored with an assist from Julia Lee at 7:44. Later, Island Bernard-Docker narrowed the margin further with a goal at 12:25, assisted by Alisha Donovan. The period concluded with both teams exchanging defensive plays, resulting in a 6-2 victory for the Tigers. Emma Robertson added her second goal of the night, solidifying her standout performance.
Holmes scored two goals, including the game-winner, while finishing with a plus-minus of +3. Kramer contributed with one goal and one assist, achieving a plus-minus of +3. Wardle added three helpers and maintained a plus-minus of +2. Grace Beer recorded 18 saves, allowing two goals in her appearance.
The Tigers return to the ice on Satuday when they host the STFX X-Women at 7pm.
