Talbot joins Tigers for 2025-26
Dalhousie Tigers women’s basketball head coach Tanya McKay is pleased to announce the commitment of Taya Talbot for the 2025-26 season.
Hailing from Truro, Nova Scotia the 5’6 point guard played for Holland College last season where her team earned silver in playoffs. Prior to playing at Holland College, Talbot played for Cobequid Educational Centre (CEC) for four years where she won provincials, and for the Pictou County Raptors for two summers, winning multiple tournaments.
This past season, Talbot was named defensive player of the year for Holland College, adding this award to her CEC rookie of the year, defensive player of the year and MVP awards.
“I am beyond grateful and excited to be suiting up for the Tigers and moving up to the next level in the Fall.” Says Talbot. “With Dalhousies strong academic reputation and competitive athletics, it is the perfect place for me to grow both as a student and an athlete achieving goals in the classroom and on the court. I can’t wait to be a part of the Tigers family!”
Talbot will study law, justice and society at Dalhousie.
“Taya joins us after gaining a solid year of experience playing college basketball at Holland, and we’re thrilled to welcome her to the Dalhousie women’s basketball program.” Says McKay. “She’s an athletic player with a strong basketball IQ and brings a tenacious full-court defensive presence. Taya excels in transition, and we’re excited to see the impact she’ll have on our team.”
The Tigers finished the 2024-25 season with a 2-18 record, outside of a playoff position.
