SMU defeats Laurier 74-54 in tournament opener
The Saint Mary’s Huskies and the Laurier Golden Hawks battled out an exciting first game at the 32nd annual Lawtons Centennial classic held at the Dalplex.
The Saint Mary's Huskies and the Laurier Golden Hawks battled out an exciting first game at the 32nd annual Lawtons Centennial classic held at the Dalplex.
Numerous baskets were sunk at both ends of the court which resulted in a nail biting first two quarters. The Golden hawks trailed by four at the half, but seemed to turn up the heat within a few minutes of the buzzer.
The Huskies came out strong in both the third and fourth quarter, pulling away with the game by displaying some great offensive skills.
The final score of the game was Huskies 74 Golden Hawks 54.
Laurier is set to take on the UQaM Citadins tomorrow evening at 5 pm. Following that game, the SMU Huskies will test the host Dalhousie Tigers at 7 pm. Both game will be held at the Dalplex.
