Bio

This is Richard’s third year as head coach of Dalhousie’s cross country and track and field teams. The 2014-15 AUS women’s track and field coach of the year, he was named the AUS women’s cross country coach of the year this past fall for the second consecutive season. A graduate of the University of Victoria, he had a very successful career as an athlete before embarking on a coaching career. As a cross country athlete, Richard took home two CIS bronze medals. He was a two-time CIS First Team All-Canadian and Canada West All-Star. In track, he is a two-time CIS gold medallist as a member of the Vikes 4x800m relay teams and was also a two-time first team all-Canadian. Richard spent two seasons as an assistant coach for Dalhousie’s cross country and track teams before taking over the head coach role. A trained endurance competition development coach, Richard was recently named to Nova Scotia’s 2017Canada Game athletics team and is also the distance coach for Halifast Athletics.
