McDermott Commits to Tigers for 2026-27.
Dalhousie Tigers track and field coaches Rich Lehman and Tim Brennan are pleased to announce the commitment of Chase McDermott for the 2026-27 season
With early success at the national-level, Chase will make an immediate impact on the Usports scene and be a critical member of nationally-competitive relay teams.
In just his first year competing in track and field, Chase was selected as a member of the Andre De Grasse Future Champions program. He won provincial gold in the 100m at SSNS Provincial Championship, captured bronze in the 100m at the 2025 Legion Track and Field Championships, and set the Nova Scotia U18 Provincial Record in the 60m.
Chase arrives with impressive personal bests of 6.85s in the 60m, 10.70s in the 100m and 21.62 in the 200m.
Off the track, the Truro, N.S. native will be studying commerce.
McDermott has expressed his excitement in joining the Black & Gold this fall.
"I'm thrilled to be joining Dalhousie University and stepping onto the track to compete as a Tiger this fall," says McDermott. "I look forward not only to the academic opportunities Dalhousie offers, but being part of a talented and competitive track and field team led by excellent coaches. I can't wait to see what the future holds."
The Tigers continue to build toward future AUS success in the 2026-27 season.
