Tigers compete in Pan Am Games

Dalhousie Tigers swimmer Noah Mascoll-Gomes competed in the 19th Pan American Games from October 21-25 in Chile, representing his nation of Antigua.

Mascoll-Gomes adds to his impressive swimming career, including representing his country in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

“It's a blessing to be able to get experience competing in different countries and learn things from different swimmers as well,” says the commerce major, who added it is also a blessing to be able to experience different countries and compete for his country through swimming. “I learned a lot from my competition.”

The swimmer competed in the 200 and 400-metre freestyle events, placing 14th and 20th respectively.

Competing in a high level of competition gives Mascoll-Gomes an elite amount of experience and a variety of it. The Olympian can apply his experiences to his future meets and use them to advise teammates.

“When you are racing, you can pull from these past experiences to help you through them,” says the fifth year. “I think that’s the advantage of being in these competitions.”

It is back to business for Mascoll-Gomes as his focus shifts back to competing for the Tigers. The swimmer continues tearing up the AUS, placing first in all his races in the Amby Legere AUS Meet at UNB. Mascoll-Gomes believes Dal can finish in the top 10 nationally this season after finishing 13th in the 2023 U SPORTS championships.

"I felt like we had a good training group, but being able to see this year's team race for the first time gave me more confidence leading up to Kemp-Fry."

Dal’s focus has now shifted to the Kemp-Fry Invitational at Dalplex on the weekend of November 24.

“This is what our fans will come to see. We want to make the most of it,” says Mascoll-Gomes.
