Nicholson joins Tigers for 2025-26
Tigers men’s volleyball head coach Dan Ota is pleased to announce the commitment of Alex Nicholson for the 2025-26 season.
Dalhousie Tigers men’s volleyball head coach Dan Ota is pleased to announce the commitment of Alex Nicholson for the 2025-26 season.
Hailing from Charlottetown, PEI, the 6’4 left side hitter is the captain for Colonel Gray High School AAA men’s volleyball team, leading them to two provincial titles and three tournament victories in Nova Scotia and PEI in his senior year. Nicholson also played for Inferno volleyball club at nationals in all three years of high school and represented his province playing on the 18U Prince Edward Island provincial team, achieving the highest-ever finish for PEI in the tournament’s history.
Nicholson earned a spot on the 2023 Volleyball PEI All-Star team as a grade 11 student. He was named MVP of the Wolverine Classic and was a three-time finalist for Volleyball PEI Athlete of the Year.
“Playing for the Dalhousie Tigers has been my dream since I watched a game 5 years ago and I’m excited to be able to play under such a prestigious coach in Dan Ota,” says Nicholson. “I also love the team dynamic and I’m looking forward to joining the tiger family”
The honour roll student will be studying science at Dalhousie.
“Alex has the physical upside we are looking for”, says Ota. “He has the versatility to play a couple of different positions so he will add some welcome depth to our squad.”
The Tigers ended the regular season with a record of 2-12, just outside of RSEQ playoffs.
