Dalhousie Tigers men’s volleyball head coach Dan Ota is pleased to announce the commitment of Gavin Johnson for the 2025-26 season.
Hailing from Kamloops, British Columbia, the 6’4 outside hitter is the captain for the Kamloops Volleyball Association (KVA) club team for the past three years. He led his team to fifth at the U17 Volleyball BC provincial championship. Johnson has also been a part of the South Kamloops Secondary’s senior team for the past three years. In December 2024, they won the British Columbia School Sports AA Provincial Championship. He received the Junior Athlete of the Year award in 2023 from South Kamloops Secondary School. Johnson was also a member of Team BC in 2023 and 2024.
“I’m excited about joining Dalhousie and playing for the Tigers,” says Johnson. “The community seems great, and I’m excited to eat some east coast lobster. But seriously, I’m looking forward to growing not only as an athlete but also as a person and hope I can contribute to the team’s future success.”
An honour roll student, Johnson will be studying commerce at Dalhousie University.
“Gavin is a dynamic player with a great serve and attack”, says Ota. “His ability to score will make him a welcome addition to our squad.”
The Tigers finished the 2024-25 RSEQ regular season in fifth place.
