First Year Feature: Reese Weatherston
We'd like to introduce you to first year men's soccer player, Reese Weatherston!
The transition from high school to university athletics is significant. We're highlighting first year athletes from all varsity teams this season who are on the path to achieving greatness here at Dalhousie University.
This week we would like to introduce Reese Weatherston, a first year midfielder on the men's soccer team. Hailing from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Weatherston is studying Engineering.
How long have you been playing soccer?
I've been playing soccer for roughly 12 years.
How did you start playing soccer or get into it?
My parents signed me up for it when I was very young and I just kept on playing.
Did you play any other sports growing up?
Yes, I played basketball and hockey.
Who is somebody in the soccer community you admired growing up and why?
Ever since I was young, I've always looked up to Messi.
What is the most memorable moment in your career so far?
Winning bronze at u17 nationals.
What made you choose Dalhousie University?
It's close to home, and I can get a great balance of high-quality athletics and academics.
Did any of your family members attend Dalhousie University?
Yes, a few of them did.
How has the transition from high school sports to university sports been for you so far?
Pretty smooth I'd say, the biggest difference is the time commitment so far, as I was going from training like twice a week to now 1-2 times every day.
How do you balance academics and sports?
Staying focused when studying and managing my time well.
What are some of your interests outside of sports?
Outside of sports, I really enjoy watching my favourite TV shows.
Any pre-event superstitions/routines?
Get a good carb heavy meal around 3 and half hours before a game or practice.

Pizza
