HALIFAX, Nova Scotia — The Dalhousie Tigers fell to Saint Mary's Huskies with a final score of 2-1 on Sunday at Wickwire Field.
The first half featured a strong offensive effort from Dalhousie, with numerous attempts on goal that tested Saint Mary's goalkeeper Tomas Mello. Mohammed Wahdan and Mohammed Tolba each had early shots saved by Mello, while Jack Ellis and Ben Hashimoto also had opportunities denied. Woody Bain delivered multiple precise corner kicks, contributing to the sustained pressure, though the score remained tied 0-0 at the break.
The second half began with Dalhousie asserting pressure, marked by two early corner kicks from Bain, one in the 48th and another in the 57th minute. Dalhousie's persistence paid off when Hashimoto scored the opening goal in the 65th minute, assisted by Bain. Despite a strong defensive effort by Sinclair Astridge, who recorded key saves, Saint Mary's equalized in the 81st minute, followed by a late winner in the 88th minute, resulting in a 2-1 defeat for Dalhousie.
Hashimoto contributed significantly with a goal and tallied two shots on goal. Bain provided an assist while also recording a shot on goal. Astridge, as the goalkeeper, recorded three saves across five shots faced.
The Tigers host the Mount Allison Mounties on Friday at 7:30pm at Wickwire field.
