Rushenas drafted by Halifax Wanderers
Goalkeeper Aiden Rushenas has been drafted tenth overall by the Halifax Wanderers in the CPL-U SPORTS draft.
The CPL-U SPORTS Draft presented by Degree took place on Thursday afternoon, where second-year goalkeeper Aiden Rushenas was drafted by the Halifax Wanderers in the second round, tenth overall.
Hailing from Toronto, Ontario, Rushenas joined the Tigers ahead of the 2021-22 season. He started all twelve of the Tigers games in his first year and played in 11 of the 12 regular season games this past year. A computer science student, he had a 1.33 goals against average and earned four shutouts in 2022-23. He was named the Subway AUS athlete of the week for the week ending September 25, 2022.
This would not be his first time wearing the Wanderers blue. In summer 2022, Rushenas was selected as a member of the Halifax Wanderers U23 team that played two exhibition games at Wanderers Grounds. He also was named to the bench for the first team’s August 1 game on a short term contract.
