TIgers fall to Aigles Bleus
Moncton beat the Tigers 6-3.
HALIFAX, N.S. — Dalhousie Tigers fell 6-3 to Moncton Aigles Bleus on Wednesday night at home, despite Dalhousie's power-play goal in the third period.
The first period opened with Dalhousie gaining an early edge when Ethan Wongus scored the first goal of the game at 5:02, assisted by Ryan Del Monte. Moncton quickly responded with a goal by Jeremy Lapointe at 6:15, leveling the score. Both teams exchanged penalties and power play opportunities, but neither could capitalize on the man advantage. Goaltenders Kaiden Kirkwood for Dalhousie and Olivier Adam for Moncton were tested frequently, with Adam making several key saves to keep the score tied at 1-1 by the end of the period.
Moncton capitalized early in the second frame, with Jeremy D'Astous scoring just 41 seconds in, assisted by Mika Cyr, to give the visitors a 2-1 lead. They extended their advantage with Philippe Collette's goal at 4:02, assisted by Simon Maltais. The Tigers responded quickly, as Seth Dragan found the net at 5:08 with assistance from Kai Dunits, cutting the deficit to one. However, Moncton took advantage of a power play opportunity and Jeremy Lapointe scored at 10:21, assisted by Carl-Anthony Masse and Jeremy D'Astous, to make it 4-2. Despite several shots on goal and a power play chance, the home team was unable to further close the gap by the period's end.
Moncton extended their lead early in the third frame with a goal from Mika Cyr at 6:31, assisted by Jeremy D'Astous. Less than a minute later, Jules Boilard capitalized on another opportunity, scoring at 7:19 with an assist from Yann-Felix Lapointe, pushing Moncton's advantage to 6-2. Dalhousie responded during a power play when Jack Harper found the back of the net at 16:52, assisted by Ben Bujold and Brody Fournier, narrowing the deficit to 6-3. Despite several power-play opportunities and multiple shots on goal, the Tigers could not close the gap further, with Moncton securing the win.
Seth Dragan scored a goal on two shots, contributing to the team's offensive efforts. Jack Harper netted a power-play goal while taking four shots, adding to his special teams impact. Wongus also found the back of the net, registering a goal on five shots in the contest. Bujold provided a helper and demonstrated proficiency in the faceoff circle, winning 11 of 17 faceoffs.
The Tigers hit the road on Friday, travelling to STFX.
