Dalhousie Tigers men’s hockey head coach Chris Donnelly is pleased to announce the addition of Dawson Stairs for the 2023-24 season.
Hailing from Fredericton, New Brunswick, Stairs played for the Campbellton Tigers of the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) in 2022-23. In his 39 games for the Tigers this season, he amassed 31 goals and 35 assists.
Prior to his time in Campbellton, the 5’11 forward played 176 regular season games in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) for the Charlottetown Islanders, Cape Breton Eagles, and the Saint John Sea Dogs. He accumulated 48 goals and 58 assists during his time in the QMJHL. He also added 11 points in the post-season with the Islanders in 2021-22.
“I am very excited to join the Tigers,” says Stairs. “I’ve heard a lot of great things about both the school and the hockey program from current and former players. The coaches and players were very supportive during the recruiting process, which I value. From there, I knew Dalhousie was the school I wanted to attend and continue my hockey career. I am excited to put on the black and gold and play in front of the Dalhousie fans!”
Stairs will be studying commerce at Dalhousie.
“Dawson is a very talented offensive player who is eager to get back into a demanding league and be challenged to reach his potential,” says Donnelly. “We are looking forward to spending time with him on a daily basis and believe that combined with his strong work ethic, Dawson can develop into an offensive threat in the AUS.”
The Tigers look to return to the AUS postseason in 2023-24 after just missing out last season.
