Dalhousie Tigers men’s volleyball head coach Dan Ota is pleased to announce the commitment of Craig Therkildsen for the 2019-20 season.
The 6’5, Aurora, Ontario setter has played his entire career with Storm Volleyball Club. Therkildsen along with his Storm teammates, are the reigning U17 national and provincial champions as well as the winners of the 2017 U16 provincial tournament. He is a two-time Volleyball Canada national all-star from the 2017 and 2018 championships.
Aurora High School’s senior volleyball team MVP the last two years is a two-time York Region Athletic Association all-star. He helped lead them to the Ontario Federation of Secondary Athletic Associations (OFSAA) championship in 2018.
“I am excited for a new experience at Dalhousie,” says Therkildsen. “Coming to Halifax is a great opportunity and I am looking forward to learning from Coach Ota and the current Tigers. I think this year’s group of recruits have a real opportunity to do something special in the years to come.”
The four-time high school honour roll student will be studying commerce at Dalhousie in the fall.
"Craig has experience with leading his teams to an extremely high level of success,” says Ota. “One of the most important qualities of a setter is making players around him better and I think he has that ability. Having talented setters on our roster will create the competitive environment that we are looking for, and I look forward to begin working with him in the fall!"
The Tigers men’s volleyball team finished the 2018-19 RSEQ season in fourth place, with a 5-11 record.
