Dalhousie Tigers men’s volleyball head coach Dan Ota is pleased to announce the commitment of Callum Campbell for the 2019-20 season.
A 6’3 libero, Campbell is also a left side hitter. He has spent the last four years with the Canuck Stuff Volleyball Club, helping the U16 team to a third-place finish at nationals in 2017, earning tournament all-star honours in the process. In 2016 Campbell was selected for his regional team and he and his teammates went on to finish second at the Alberta Winter Games. Campbell was also named a 2017 Best of the West All-Star, and a 2018 Dinos tournament all-star. A member of the 2017 U16 Team Canada Selects, Campbell has also been a member of the U17 Alberta team.
The Calgary, Alberta native has also enjoyed a successful beach career placing third at the 2016 Alberta Summer Games and was named to the U18 Alberta beach volleyball team as a U17 player.
“Dalhousie University gives me a great opportunity to pursue my academic and athletic interests,” says Campbell. “I can’t wait to be a Tiger next year and I am looking forward to my development as a player with Coach Ota.”
Campbell will be studying commerce while at Dalhousie.
“I’m excited about the addition of Callum to our 2019 roster,” says Ota. “His biggest strength is his reception skill, and that is a major priority for us to improve next season. Great passers tend to make everyone else’s job on the court easier. With his experience and background, I think that Callum can successfully transition to a libero at the U SPORTS level.”
The Tigers finished the 2018-19 RESQ season in fourth-place, before falling to Laval in the semifinals.
