Jerkovic commits to Tigers for 2020-21 season

Dalhousie Tigers men’s basketball head coach Rick Plato is pleased to announcement commitment of Drazen Jerkovic for the 2020-21 season.

A Pickering, O.N. native, Jerkovic is a two-time Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) provincial champion as a member of the Pine Ridge High School basketball team. The 6’8 forward and his teammates entered the 2020 edition of the championship seeded first overall after defending their regional title for the sixth time. They failed to win their third consecutive OFSAA gold medal in March, reaching quarterfinals with an impressive season record of 54 and 4.

“I am honoured to be able to attend such a distinguished university and to have a chance to play for one of the best basketball programs in Canada,” says Jerkovic. “With hard work I believe we can win the national title.”

Jerkovic will be studying kinesiology at Dalhousie.

“Drazen will be looked at to add depth at the forwards position,” says Plato. “His solid rebounding and a competitive attitude will be key to his individual success and development this season. Drazen’s enthusiastic and positive attitude and his desire to make an immediate contribution will serve him well as he joins an experienced group of returning Tigers. We are very excited to add a player of Drazen’s ability and potential to the Tigers family”

The Tigers finished the 2019-20 season with a program-best U SPORTS silver medal after going 19-1 in the AUS regular season and winning their fifth AUS banner in six years.
