Saunders commits to Tigers for 2019-20 season

Tigers men’s basketball head coach Rick Plato is pleased to announce the commitment of Kendall Saunders for the 2019-20 season.

Saunders hails from North Preston, Nova Scotia. The 6’5 forward suited up for the Toronto Basketball Academy this past winter. Previously Saunders played for the Cornerstone Christian Academy in Ohio and Auburn Drive High School.

“I’m nervous, but ready,” says Saunders. “Its going to be an amazing five years at Dalhousie.”

Saunders earned a blue ribbon for maintaining a GPA between 3.0-3.5 at Cornerstone Christian Academy. He will start his pursuit of a Bachelor of Arts degree this fall.

“Kendall will bring added versatility to our line up in 2019-20,” says Plato. “He can play multiple positions and is able to defend several positions. His high school and prep career has taken him to the US and Ontario, and we are glad to add a solid Nova Scotian to our roster. I feel the sky is the limit for what he will be able to do in the AUS.”

The Tigers claimed their fourth AUS banner in five years last winter before hosting the U SPORTS Finals 8 in Halifax. They finished the championship with a loss to Ryerson in the bronze medal game.
