Academic Support

Maintaining the balance between academics and athletics is a key component to success as a varsity student-athlete. The Black & Gold Academic Support Program provides Dalhousie student-athletes with resources to assist them in achieving their academic goals. This is a mandatory program for first year student-athletes and optional for all others. Components of the program include:

  • study skill seminars
  • study halls
  • sponsored tutoring
  • academic support

Other academic resources available to all Dalhousie students include Academic Advising Services, Studying for Success and the Writing Centre.

Goals of the Black & Gold Academic Success Program are to:

  • Introduce study skills that will help student-athletes become effective learners
  • Provide regular study halls to encourage student-athletes to study
  • Provide tutors for student-athletes in need of assistance*
  • Assist student-athletes with academic concerns and challenges

*All tutors must be pre-approved and registered by Kathy Spurr, Education Coordinator.
